I have a few
new poems up at The Awl (I didn't mean to time my Awl neg for the same day; for realz, I love The Awl). I like that someone called them "Aphoristastic!" in a comment, because I think of these poems as strings of faux aphorisms, plus connective tissue.
What makes them 'faux'?
ReplyDeleteWhat makes them faux, in my mind, is that I don't necessarily believe them. But maybe they're still straight-up aphorisms all the same.
ReplyDeleteJonathan Mayhew would approve.
ReplyDeleteIn fact he ought to be live-tweeting the entire thing.
ReplyDeletey'all might find this of interest too, nick piombino's "contradicta: aphorisms": http://www.greeninteger.com/book.cfm?-Nick-Piombino-Contradicta-Aphorisms-&BookID=266
ReplyDeleteWow. Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
ReplyDeleteYes, I approve. I like Nick's contradicta as well.
ReplyDeleteGlad you approve, and glad you're still going to bat for "begging the question."
